A tool to estimate tuition rates, required fees, etc. is located on the Income Accounting Student Tuition Estimation Tool.

Fees are calculated based upon a FT undergraduate  (15 credit hours) schedule for one semester.

  • Computing


    $119.45 or 20.2% of Total Fees

    The revenue from this fee goes towards two campus information technology services:

    University Teaching and Learning Portfolio
    This portfolio has primary responsibility for the learning management system, classroom technology, and other teaching and learning technology tools. This portfolio will prioritize projects, identify initiatives, and allocate seed money to innovative technology projects that support teaching and learning at the University. This portfolio committee includes a student representative.

    Centralized Services
    Revenue helps to pay for computing infrastructure such as: Umail email access, help desk services, campus wireless access, information security, and more.

  • Building


    $119.24 or 20.1% of Total Fees

    The Student Building Fee is issued for the availability and the use of facilities included in the Auxiliary and Campus Facilities bond system (ACFS). Funds generated by the fee are legally paid to the ACFS and help cover operating costs as well as renewal and replacement costs for facilities. These buildings include the University Union, Rice Eccles Stadium, Housing and Residential Education, and the Jon M Huntsman Center.

  • Athletic


    $82.69 or 14.0% of Total Fees

    The revenue from this fee enables free access to sporting events by all students at the U. Money also supports non-revenue sports and marching band. Most importantly this money from student fees is used to subsidize our non-revenue sports: Recruiting, travel, game operations, uniforms & equipment, office expenses, public relations and facility costs.

  • Student Life Center


    $60.00 or 10.1% of Total Fees

    The Student Life Center fee is to service the Student Life Center revenue bond debt service. It also goes to pay the utilities, custodial staff, grounds keeping, repairs, and operations of the Student Life Center. The fee will be $60 per semester with no increase. When the bond debt service is paid in full (not to exceed 20 years), the fee will be discontinued.

  • Transportation


    $58.35 or 9.9% of Total Fees

    The revenue from this fee goes to help pay for campus shuttle buses as well as free use of the Utah Transit Authority TRAX and bus systems.

  • Gardner Commons


    $45.00 or 7.6% of Total Fees

    The Gardner Commons fee is to service the Gardner Commons Building revenue bond debt service. It also goes to pay the utilities, custodial staff, grounds keeping, repairs, and operations of the Student Life Center. The fee will be $45 per semester with no increase. When the bond debt service is paid in full (not to exceed 20 years), the fee will be discontinued.

  • ASUU Activity


    $23.12 or 3.9% of Total Fees

    The revenue from this fee goes to The Associated Students of the University of Utah (the U’s student government organization). ASUU is responsible for numerous programming events on campus including free concerts, movies, speakers, and other social events. Its executive branch works on campus wide initiatives and events that focus on diversity, academic success, community service, and more. ASUU is responsible for funding over 500 student clubs and organizations and representing students with regards to University policy. Additionally it provides assistance with on campus child care, tutoring, and legal services

  • Health Services


    $20.48 or 3.5% of Total Fees

    The Student Health Fee goes to support the Student Health Center. The Student Health Center provide care to students, their spouses, and dependents. The fee allows the Center to significantly discount office and professional fees between 40-60% what the community would charge for a similar visit. For students either without insurance or who have insurance but no provider network in Utah, the Student Health Center is the cheapest place for them to receive care. The Student Health Center also goes to help fund the Center for Student Wellness and the services they provide – health education, sexual victim advocacy, alcohol education, mobile STD/HIV clinics, etc.

  • Campus Recreation


    $18.81 or 3.2% of Total Fees

    The revenue from this fee supports the operations of Campus Recreation Services, including Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, equipment purchase and maintenance, and staffing all programs and facilities. This fee also pays for the maintenance and operations of McCarthey Family Track and Field, Lassonde Sport Courts, University Federal Credit Union Playfield, and a new shared-use field.

  • Fine Arts


    $17.50 or 3.0% of Total Fees

    The Fine Arts Fee supports various arts and culture resources on campus, including the Arts Pass program. This program provides free or greatly reduced tickets to all matriculated University of Utah students for various campus performances, productions, exhibitions, and other cultural events. A small portion of the funds also support FAF grants, the Fine Arts portion of ASUU student group fees, which offers grants to student groups.

  • Mental Health


    $15.00 or 2.5% of Total Fees

    The majority of this fee is used to pay for staffing and enhanced access hours to mental health services.

  • Student Media


    $9.00 or 1.5% of Total Fees

    Student Media at the University of Utah has two primary missions: first, to engage, provoke, inspire and connect campus by telling the compelling stories of the University of Utah community; and second, to provide a hands-on experiential learning environment in media where students can put into practice skills and ideas from the classroom. This student fee helps support the Student Media department, and runs the Chronicle, K-UTE, DigitalU, University Media Sales, and Student Media Marketing. It also partially funds several smaller departmental and niche media outlets on campus.

  • Sustainability


    $2.50 or 0.4% of Total Fees

    The revenue from this fee goes to the Sustainable Campus Initiative Fund which provides funding for student-led projects focusing on making the campus more sustainable. Any student may apply to use this money and implement their sustainable initiative on campus.

  • Campus Connect


    $0.75 or 0.1% of Total Fees

    The revenue from this fee is used to support an online platform that allows students to find, join and interact with organizations, discover and attend events and track c-curricular involvement at the University of Utah. This fee provides sustainable funding for the licensing and maintenance of the software used to provide this functionality.
